Beware of Un Sub Kwon and the Peal Guitar (Ye-Il International) Company
Un Sub Kwon and the Ye-Il International (Peal Guitars) Company ruined our business! Before sending Mr. Kwon and the Ye-Il International (Peal Guitars) Company any money, please read the following:

We had received roundback guitars from Peal in the past and were so happy with the quality that, when we decided to produce a line of custom jazz acoustic hybrids, Peal was the first manufacturer we turned to! At the same time, our growing parts business was beginning to run a little low on some of our most popular items and, seeing that Peal carried those very same parts in their catalog, we naturally decided to have them provide us with both the custom guitars and the parts we needed. After ironing out the specifications for the custom guitars, we sent Mr. Kwon the deposit he required and proceeded to mail him the high-end floating jazz pickups we had purchased for him to use on our instruments. Approximately 8 months later, we received word from Mr. Kwon that our guitars and parts were ready to ship; however, he required the remainder of the funds prior to shipment. We then paid him in full (after all, we were a very small player and we never had a problem with him in the past). We were then informed by Mr. Kwon that our guitars and parts would ship within a few weeks. Months went by; however, and our order never arrived. We attempted to contact Mr. Kwon on many occasions but he never responded to any of our inquiries. Six months after paying in full we finally got the Korean Consulate in New York City involved as well as KITA, the Korean business association we originally found Peal through. They contacted Mr. Kwon on our behalf and he then sent us just $370 worth of parts, a tiny fraction of our $5,000 guitar and parts order! Over a year and a half later, we still hadn't received an additional thing from Mr. Kwon (and both the Korean Consulate and KITA refused to respond to any of our subsequent inquiries). We then got through to Mr. Kwon ourselves, bent over backwards, and agreed to take shipment of more roundback guitars (which we'll be lucky to even break even on if not take a loss) in lieu of the remaining parts we were owed (which we had many loyal customers for worldwide). At that point, we were desperate to at least get something from him for the money! We also agreed to change the specifications of the custom guitars we ordered to make them even easier to produce! Another four months went by without a single reply from Mr. Kwon to any of our many inquiries so we began posting negative information about him here on our site. After informing him of the negative information, he finally agreed to ship our guitar order but indicated that the associated gig bags would come via Express Mail Service (EMS) shortly thereafter. Three months later we received word that our order had arrived but Mr. Kwon refused to release the shipment until we removed the negative information about him from our site (please recall that at that point we had paid him in full well over 2 years prior!). When we took the information down he released our shipment; however, upon inspection of the merchandise, we found that the custom jazz acoustic hybrids we ordered were not jazz guitars at all! While they're very nice guitars they're not even close to the specifications that were agreed to! In addition, it has now been well over 3 years since we paid in full and our gig bags are nowhere to be found! Mr. Kwon also left out a total of $500 in options we ordered for our custom guitars! When we contacted him about it, he agreed to provide us with another guitar within just a few weeks to make up for that shortfall. It's now over another year and that guitar has yet to arrive! We did receive an email from Mr. Kwon more recently indicating that the gig bags and the guitar will soon ship via ocean freight; we aren't holding our breath, but, even if they are, it will cost us hundreds more in customs, brokers, and handling fees that we no longer even have to spend. All in all we are out well over $1,000, let alone the complete destruction of what had been an ever growing guitar parts business! Mr. Kwon is a crook and should be treated as such! If you're a retailer planning to place an order with him and Ye-Il, please learn from our awful experience and find another manufacturer!
